Jacques Chappell's Digital Accessibility Portfolio
I am a digital accessibility specialist, my name is Jacques Chappell, dedicated to helping businesses strengthen their online presence while ensuring an accessible experience for all users. My journey began with a strong foundation in self-guided accessibility certification from Deque University, where I built a solid understanding of core accessibility principles, WCAG guidelines, and inclusive design practices. This self-motivated start equipped me with the discipline to continuously learn and push through the challenges. Seeking deeper expertise and practical application, I pursued a digital accessibility course through the Blind Institute of Technology. This program helped develop my ability to analyze websites and applications for accessibility barriers, craft remediation solutions, and communicate accessibility requirements effectively. The course laid the critical groundwork that culminated in earning my CPACC certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, validating my comprehensive knowledge of accessibility standards. The next pivotal step in my path was the apprenticeship through the Blind Institute of Technology, which provided the final piece of the puzzle: hands-on experience turning theory into practice. In this 2 year experience driven apprenticeship, I completed audits on at least 30 client projects, collaborating with team members and project managers to conduct rigorous testing. This immersive experience taught me skills that could not have been gained in theory alone; practical problem-solving, nuanced device and assistive technology considerations, and the discipline of delivering accessible results within real-world project timelines. Today, I bring a passionate commitment to inclusion and independence for all users. My approach blends strategic accessibility planning with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that digital experiences are usable, equitable, and intuitive. I believe accessibility is a core business strategy—not just a compliance checkbox—and I partner with teams to embed accessibility into design, development, and content from the outset. Beyond my professional focus, I enjoy cooking, spending time with family, and exploring games. These personal interests remind me that accessibility is about universal participation: creating experiences that invite everyone to play, learn, and thrive together. If you’re looking for a proactive, results-oriented accessibility professional who combines formal certification with hands-on mastery and a collaborative mindset, I’d love to connect. I’m excited to help your organization extend its reach, improve user satisfaction, and build a more inclusive digital presence.

Highlight of Skills and Experience
- Automated Testing Tools
Tools such as AxeDev, Wave, and others can scan a web page for issues, but these are not always accurate and do not catch everything. Often times these scanning tools find around 50 percent of the issues that are present. Then of the issues detected, some of them may be false positive issues and take reviewing the results to determine what issues are truly in need of remediation. I have experience analyzing these results and the webpages to use these tools in helping get a idea of a webpage and its possible common issues. - Manual Testing
This is where my knowledge and experience of the WCAG 2.0 through 2.2 standards and how they apply to webpages allows me to thoroughly analyze a webpage for accessibility issues to flag for resolution. It really is hands on and I enjoy. If any issues are found, those issues would be documented in a deliverable such as an Audit Log. - Audit Log
This would be used to document the issues discovered during testing of a website. The violations of the WCAG standards are the guideline for the website during testing. The following example illustrates my web auditing skills, discovering the issue and documenting the flagged issue. This was done in 2022 on the Android website. Typically in addition to the Audit Log, a client would also receive a document called an Executive Summary. This document organizes the information into a more digestable and presentable format.

This would be used to break down the issues found on the website and then documented in the audit log into a more understandable written summary of the issues discovered. The following is based on the audit log example done in 2022 on the Android website.
